6 Minimalist Style Challenges to Join Now

A fun challenge is a great way to start experimenting with a minimalist wardrobe.

As I was searching for more capsule wardrobe advice, I came across this idea of minimalist wardrobe challenges which really appealed to me.

I thought it was a great way for me to get more use out of my current closet and update my style by adding a couple of new, versatile pieces to my collection.

I also thought it would be a great way for someone to begin their minimalist wardrobe journey.

After all, who doesn’t like a good challenge? Let’s have some fun!

Project 333

by Courtney Carver from bemorewithless.com
#project333

I think this is the most popular minimalist wardrobe challenge out there, which most of you are likely to know about. For those who come across this challenge for the first time, let me tell you – it’s life changing!

Project 333 invites you to dress with 33 items or less for 3 months.
It was created by Courtney Carver in 2010 and thousands of people have accepted the challenge since.

When: Every three months
What: 33 items including clothing, accessories, jewelry, outerwear and shoes.
How: Choose your 33 items, box up the rest and put away.

Un-Fancy Seasonal Capsule Experiment

by Caroline Joy from un-fancy.com
#unfancy

Caroline’s challenge is similar to the #Project333 but she has a slightly different approach to capsules.

First of all, Caroline doesn’t limit herself to 33 items. She says it could be 34, 37, 39 or whatever you feel is a great number of items for you (as long as you love and wear all of them!).

Secondly, her capsules are seasonal which means she creates them by the end of each season for the upcoming three months and stops shopping until it’s time for the next capsule.

When: Every three months (end of season)
What: Choose your perfect number of items (this should exclude accessories, fitness and home wear) and create your seasonal capsule (you could use Caroline’s Free Seasonal Wardrobe planner for help)
How: Dress only with the chosen pieces of clothing for 3 months and no shopping during this time

10×10 Challenge

by Lee Vosburgh from www.stylebee.ca
#stylebee10x10, #autumn10x10, #10x10friends

The 10×10 challenge was created by Lee Vosburgh in 2015 during her 30 day shopping fast. She challenged herself to get more creative with her closet and style things up in the ways she might not otherwise try.

Since then there have been over 10 thousand posts shared on Instagram with #stylebee10x10 of people joining the challenge around the world. So, what are you waiting for?

When: anytime
What: any 10 items from your current closet
How: create 10 different looks and wear those looks over 10 days

You can try a smaller challenge of 6 items over six days or a bigger one of 20 or 30 pieces over the following 20 or 30 days respectively. “Do whatever feels manageable but still be sure to challenge yourself!” encourages Lee.

30-Day Shop Your Wardrobe Challenge

by Jill Chivers from myyearwithoutclothesshopping.com
#shopyourwardrobe

Jill created a 30 Day Shop Your Wardrobe Challenge to give you a starting point for 30 days to shop in your own wardrobe (She herself has been doing it for years!).

For each day of your 30 day challenge, you will be given a theme – for example, wearing colours you’ve never combined before or an item of clothing you haven’t worn in 6 months. You can use these themes as your outfit inspiration or an invitation to explore and play around with items that you barely wear.

When: anytime
What: 30 themed days of wearing your own closet, no shopping
How: 30 consecutive days, or over a longer period by doing two or three days in a row or one day every week, but not skipping themes
